Snowmobile Safaris in Arctic Scandinavian Wilderness

Grayling Land is specialized private high-quality multiday snowmobile safaris in real Arctic Wilderness. Our company operates everywhere in northern Scandinavia which includes Finland, Sweden and Norway. The route will take you through the forests, over frozen lakes and rivers and finally up to the breath taking Tundra. Depending on depth of snow and from the driving skill we can drive the routes of deep snow also. With these tundra safaris we often see wild animals including reindeers, mooses, foxes, willow grouses and eagles. Trough the whole adventure you have professional Wildernessguides making sure that your trip is a life time experience.

You can choose a packet below that you prefer the most. Or you can always ask an offer for custom made snowmobile safaris. We also arrange accommodation and transfers according to you wishes!

Safari ends traditionally by going into a sauna, hot jacuzzi and enjoying a nice farewell dinner with your guides.

The participants are provided with full board and all wintergear you need. You only have to bring yourself!

Top to Fells | 8 hour Snowmobile Safari

Safari: 

We will drive on the top to Särkitunturi fell (492m) and Olostunturi fell (510m), over the frozen lakes and rivers. Fell route offers spectacular views of Pallas-Ounastunturi National Park. Särkitunturi fell region is the most beautiful vantage point and has been selected by Finland`s national landscape! During the day we drive 100-180 km depend on weather and group driving skills. We can also drive in deep snow if driving skills are good!

• Depertures: 15.11-20.4 Request for 2-10 persons. You can choose day/landscape safari or night/northern light safari.
• Duration: 7-8 hours
• Group size: min, 2 person. max, 10 person.
• Services included: All necessary equipment, (warm snowmobile overralls, boots, socks, mittens, hat, gloves, balaclava and helmet), lunch (reindeers tenderlone steak with cranberrysauce and campfire potatoes or salmon steak and campfire potatoes), coffee, pastries, wilderness/snowmobile guide, 1-2 person per snowmobile. The driving distances may vary according to the weather conditions and skills of the group. The price includes the insurance for the snowmobile with own liability of max. 550€ per snowmobile.

Snowmobiling and Night in TeePee or Wilderness Log Cabin

Arrival to Muonio. Welcome coffee and information about coming program. After info session we provide You safari equipments: ( warm overralls, boots, socks, mittens, gloves, hat, balaclava and helmet). Guide gives you a driving lesson/safety guidance for the snowmobiles. Safari begins.

Safari: 

Driving through the forests, peatlands and fells. In the middle way we take a break and have some coffee and picnic lunch by the campfire. As we arrive to the camp site, middle of snowforest we will build a TeePee or a Tent and make a fire in a fireplace. As a dinner we make delicious reindeer tenderloin with local Lappish potatoes and cranberry sauce. After dinner we spend a nice evening with an open fire.

Safari includes (we provide) -30`celsius sleeping bag, so you don`t need to worry about getting cold. In the morning we make coffee, eat breakfast and head back to Muonio.

On this safari we can also spend night in cosy Wilderness log cabin with lakeside Sauna!

The Land of Sámi | 3 day Snowmobile Safari

Arrival to Muonio.  Welcome coffee and information about coming program. After info session we provide You safari equipments: ( warm overralls, boots, socks, mittens, gloves, hat, balaclava and helmet). Guide gives you a driving lesson/safety guidance for the snowmobiles. Safari begins.

Safari: 

We will drive on the top of the fells, over the frozen lakes and rivers. First night we spend cosy Wilderness log cabin in middle of magic snow forest. During the evening we have a sauna by the lake, and if you would like to try swimming in the ice cold water. (hole in the ice) or "swimming" in the deep snow (snow angels) it`s possible too. Second night we stay cabin with shower and sauna (border of Norway and Finland). During the days we will drive 80-200 km depending on weather and group driving skills.

Evening on the day 3: You can have a sauna, hot jacuzzi and nice farewell dinner with your guides on extra charge!

• Duration: 2 night and 3 day
• Group size: 2-10 persons.
• Services included: Full board, all necessary equipment, (warm snowmobile overralls, boots, socks, mittens, hat, gloves, balaclava and helmet) sleeping bags, snowmobile guide, 1 person per snowmobile, 1 night wilderness cabin and 1 night cabin with shower and sauna. Amazing Arctic Ocean!

Three Countries, Finland, Sweden & Norway! 7 day Tour (5-day Snowmobile safari)

In Muonio area we have a special possibility to visit the Arctic Ocean with snowmobiles. It takes minimum 3 days to visit there, but we can do also 4-8 days safari. We are always driving with single snowmobiles and driving distances are 120-230 kilometres per day. The nights we spend in hotels or cabins on the way, and for routes we have many possibilities.

EXAPLE SAFARI:

 
Day 01

Arrival to the Kittilä airport and a transfer to Muonio - (approx. 1 hour). Information about the safari programme. Dinner and accommodation in cottages for 4-6 persons with sauna, shower and WC.

Day 02

After breakfast the delivery of the safari equipment (warm overalls, boots, socks, mittens, hat, gloves, helmet). Introduction to the snowmobiles and how to drive them. Safety rules and the start of the safari. Today we will drive approx. 120 km. During the safari we will stop for a picnic lunch. In the late afternoon arrival to Karesuvanto Sámi village, close to the Sweden border. Dinner. Overnight in 12 person house or cosy cabins for 4-6 persons with sauna, shower and WC.   

Day 03

After breakfast the safari continues. Today we will drive to Kilpisjärvi. The driving distance will be approx. 150 km. We will drive in treeless fell landscape (low mountains). Picnic lunch along the way in a Lapp village. Sauna, dinner and overnight in the holiday village Kilpisjärvi in chalets for 4-6 persons with sauna, shower and WC.

Day 04

After breakfast we will start to unforgettable safari to the Arctic Ocean, the driving distance will be approx. 160-200 km. We will have a picnic lunch in the Hatteng/Arctic Ocean. Depending on weather condition we could make an exstra tour to the Swedish mountain area and visit the border monument of 3 countries – Sweden, Norway and Finland. Sauna, dinner and overnight in the holiday village in Kilpisjärvi. 

Day 05

Breakfast. Today we will drive approx. 120 km. During the safari we will stop for a picnic lunch. In the late afternoon arrival to Karesuvanto Sámi village, close to the Sweden border. Dinner. Overnight in 12 person house or cosy cabins for 4-6 persons with sauna, shower and WC.

After breakfast we will head back to Muonio. The route goes on the Victoria trail beetween Finland and Sweden. The driving distance will be approx. 100-130 km. We will have a picnic lunch along the way. In Muonio we will have sauna and a farewell dinner. Accommodation in cottages for 4-6 persons with sauna, shower and WC. 

Day 07

Breakfast and a transfer to the Kittilä airport.

• Duration: 7 days, 6 nights (5 days on safari)

Important information about the safari programmes:

The driver of the snowmobile must be at least 15 years of age with a valid driving licence (for vehicles with at least 125 cc).   

This safari is not suitable for children. On this safari we use snowmobiles with at least 600cc. It is also possible to start this safari from Kittilä airport (on extra charge)!
